Introducing Chefsbook! 📒🍲
November 20, 2024
Welcome to Chefsbook! đź“–
Hi! I’m Michon, and I’m excited to share the concept behind Chefsbook, a project I created to simplify how we save, organize, and find recipes. Chefsbook was built as a proof of concept—an MVP (minimum viable product)—to see if an app like this would be helpful for people who love cooking, whether professionally or just at home.
Why Chefsbook?
The idea for Chefsbook came from my own struggle to keep track of recipes. Like many, I had recipes scattered across websites, text files, and handwritten notes, which made it hard to find things when I needed them. I wanted a simple, user-friendly way to pull everything together, even for those who don’t want to mess around with lots of apps or folders.
So, I built Chefsbook as a quick and accessible solution to test whether people like you would find it useful.
Here are some images of the first prototypes I made:
Building Chefsbook
For this first version, I chose Vue.js to create a simple, web-based app with a clean interface. A key feature is the recipe scraper, which makes it easy to save recipes directly from websites—no more copying and pasting! You can also personalize your collection by adding tags with emojis, making it easier to find recipes quickly.
Key Features 🧑‍🍳
- Simple Interface: Built to be intuitive and user-friendly.
- Custom Tags: Organize recipes your way, using emojis and tags.
- Recipe Import: Save recipes from websites directly into Chefsbook.
- Cross-Device Access: Access your recipes from any device for convenience.
What’s Next?
This MVP was a way to gather feedback, and the response has been exciting! Now that I know there’s interest, I’m planning a fully native version of Chefsbook, with more advanced features and a polished design. The native app will offer more ways to organize, better offline support, and a smooth, responsive experience for all devices.
Final Thoughts
Chefsbook is just getting started, and it’s been rewarding to see people find it useful. I hope it brings a little more joy and organization to your kitchen, making it easy to keep your favorite recipes in one convenient place.
Thanks for reading, and happy cooking! 🥄
